Conclusion

Overall i feel i have really enjoyed Redheads & Royalty, i feel very pleased with my final outcomes in both my practical skill learnt from my technical lessons and my design development explored within my other lessons as-well as outside through my own research and analysis of my progress. I particularly have enjoyed Hair and Postiche as i haven't really explored this area much before i loved creating structures within the hair and i feel this has shown through my project. If i could develop my look further i would have created a more elaborate makeup design i thought that i wanted the makeup simple but effective and now looking back on the photos i feel i could have explored even further with the texture over the face and colour using more from my tribal inspirations.
Although i do feel i have created a NEW Elizabethan in both makeup styling and Hair taking inspiration from artists such as: Sol Lewitt and  Selina Snow, inspiration from Fashion illustration and film looking at Quentin Jones, Vivienne west-woods shows and Noam Greigst, Music icons Beyonce, Paloma Faith and Lady Gaga and finally Fashion magazines looking at Vogue and ID to name a few aided me to my final outcome.

My Final Practical Assessment

These are the images from my practical work using Lalia's Design.

I feel the Overall assessment went exactly as I had planned and was very pleased with the outcome. Laila’s communication was precise and clear so I feel that this had an impact on the final look. I felt I was fully prepared Laila and I communicated who should bring what equipment so I was fully able to complete the look. I felt I did well in the time I had I finished early so I looked over the entire design and made sure everything was in place. Although I found that the skin was still an issue even though I exfoliated Laila’s skin before the assessment and thoroughly moisturized and primed the skin furthermore mixing in the primer and foundation her skin still created a patchy texture. In addition looked at the final photographs I felt that the blusher contouring could have been stronger and the lip colour, although in person this looked fine in the photos didn’t show up as much. Laila applied her contacts before I began, this was an element of the design I was conscious of as I had to make sure I was careful around the eye area. I was very pleased with the outcome of the hair design I feel I captured Laila’s initial design image creating a really strong structure, Laila’s alopecia didn't become a problem I just made sure I was extra careful in the right hand side not to pull too much. Overall I felt really happy with the final outcome I felt I took direction well and carried out all that was asked of me completing the designs within the time limit we had been set.

I loved the final images above of Laila's designs i feel they really tell a story, and capture an innocence within the images which reminds me of a feel Queen Elizabeth would portray regal and pure.

Reflection of my partners Design

I feel Laila’s design is very thought out she has taken into consideration symbolism from the Elizabethan era using purple colours within her makeup look and within the styling using purple contact lenses to represent royalty in a contemporary way. She has also used traditional techniques within her look such as the white base and pink cheeks, furthermore within the hair using padding. I found Laila communicated her ideas well and was able to show me images of her own practice so I had a visual reference as well. Although the look is simple to create there are a few areas that I have had to consider as Laila has alopecia I have to be careful not to pull the hair to much also considering how to cover the patches while still creating the design she wanted. I also struggled with her skin she has very dry and sensitive skin so while applying the base this was an issue, for the final assessment Laila will exfoliate and thoroughly moisturize, the morning of assessment I will test the base and if the foundation gathers onto the dry skin I will use oil based face paint instead. For the final assessment I will make sure I keep track of time and try and complete all that has been asked of me. I feel confident with Laila’s design but hopes nervous don’t get the better of me. I will practice further on Laila up until assessment to make sure I feel confident when I enter the assessment

My Practice of Laila's Design

jewels i will apply at the end
I found my first practice of Lalia's look went well, I feel she communicated well what she wanted and I felt I could carry out her look fully. The hair went well although had to play around with covering Lalia’s alopecia mainly on the right hand side of the head, I found I could cover it a lot more easily after back combing from the roots and taking the hair over the prop in sections although as the hair isn't long enough for the props you could see where it had been pinned at the back but Laila was not fussed that this showed as the back wasn't being photographed. I also found it hard to pin the pins into the foam so I will have to work around this finding a place they can attach to securely.

I feel confident about my final assessment and the time limit although I do get nervous under pressure so hopefully this won’t affect my overall practical ability.
